We engaged Viv shortly after the Canterbury earthquakes to help us design a warm and inviting space in one of our damaged but open libraries. At Christchurch City Libraries we always challenge our designers to challenge us in continuing to develop our library spaces brand, of vibrant and exciting places. Through excellent consultation and team work we added exciting carpet, new lighting and a colour palate that we hadn’t used before. Viv understands libraries and public spaces and brings a special warmth and fun to her schemes. Viv’s ability to do this was illustrated when we worked with her on another library prior to the earthquake project at Shirley library. Again, Viv brought new ideas, and colours to our library and the result was exciting. Elements were included in dull places, to create a sense of arrival and welcome. This is the essence of what Viv brings to a project…an awareness of budget restraints, fun and exciting ways to present library spaces and a warm team work ethic.

Case Study - Timaru

An Iconic historical in Timaru was in need of a face lift. Retaining the presence and original character of the building was paramount. Vivienne worked closely with the owners of the building, architects, and local council to achieve an end result suited to all parties.

Case Study - Motel/Restaurant

Rising land values have condemned this building to demolition in years to come. However, the owner’s understanding of the need for an interim update, required a face lift whilst keeping a keen eye on budget. Vivienne produced concept drawings for the client before project managing the building’s interior/exterior transition from dowdy to sharp and eye-catching.

Case Study - Provincial Airport

Working closely with the local council and airport management and staff was an experience fondly remembered. This tired building had suffered greatly from lack of budget and oversight. The interior had passed its use by date and had failed to keep up with the rise in tourism and technology. Exciting plans were made for a major overhaul.

Case Study - Historic Building

In a previous life this old building had been home to a paint depot and had suffered the consequences. Now home to an award winning hairdressing salon, it required some attention. Whilst being sympathetic to the building’s Edwardian origins Vivienne’s design brought the building into the 21st Century.
